October 31, 2015: Looking for Treats and Getting Tricked

Part of the series You Don’t Say!™ (© 2015), a division of Book-In-A-Drawer Publications.™

Costumed up or not, the trick of civility is to treat all of us as humans. However, that shouldn’t be used as an excuse to not pay attention—as though having acquired the civility costume means we can go to sleep at the wheel. After all, folks asleep at the wheel are accidents happening whether we know it or not.

Maybe we should all wear accident costumes on Halloween and hope costumes on some religious days—or when we vote. Maybe it’ll be harder to forget what we’re looking for versus what we seem to get.
