Some patterns do seem to bear down on us. Getting lost in the particulars can be a recipe for disaster. Of course some particulars also bear down on us. Getting lost in the patterns in such a case is also a recipe for disaster. Perhaps we need a good “board” to ride the patterns and a good mind to manage the particulars?
